Coming from an investment research/banking background, we witnessed first-hand how fragmented the investment community was in 2020. We saw how investors heavily depended on physical networks, personal referrals, and third-party service providers to find peers. Our founder (Pravin) believed there was a better way...
Software engineer by education, he brainstormed with his university mate (now ex-technical architect for two VC funded startups, both acquired) on several ways of solving this fragmentation issue and creating better connectivity for investors globally. Their conversations led to them creating the first interpretation of the solution to the problem, AssetOwner, which was launched in August 2020 to a limited audience of asset owners globally.
AssetOwner became a destination for CIOs from large pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and family offices to collaborate privately with like-minded peers. However, we quickly recognized the problem of investor social networking went far beyond this small group of institutional investors. It was an issue that even the wider investment industry and high-net-worth individuals faced. The current social networks were not for global investor networking, and they lacked the privacy and data protection that investors required.
With almost US$1 million in pre-seed funding from angel investors and family offices and through many rounds of trials, errors, redesigns and caffeine (lots of it!), the team launched Quidroom in February 2022. With the support of our users who manage a cumulative AUM over US$ 8.2 Trillion (31st Jan 2022), we now move forward with our mission to be the social network for investors globally.
